Hi, I'm Connor. I'm the first Roving Reporter in Mrs. Chilson's class!
Each day the Special Helper will write an article telling about the high points of the day. Mrs. Chilson got this idea from Mr. Coley's website and loved it. She thinks it will be great writing practice for us, and our families and friends can learn about all of the cool things we do in 5B.
Today we followed the steps of the Scientific Method to discover if more of the class had loop, arch, or whorl finger prints. First, we looked at our finger prints with our eyes. Then we looked again with a magnifying glass. Then we put our finger in ink and pressed it to a sticky note. We studied the print with our eyes and magnifying glass too. Finally, we labeled what kind of finger print we had. Next everyone worked together to make a big bar graph showing the results. My hypothesis was that there would be more loop prints in our class. I was wrong. There were more arches.
Art was fun! Our project is modeled after African adire art. They make designs on cloth. We used paper. Next week we will finish it. It will look something like this:
