COMMUNICATING LESSON OBJECTIVES TO STUDENTS:
Learning objectives tell students what they are expected to understand and remember from each lesson.
I communicate lesson objectives to students by:
Learning objectives tell students what they are expected to understand and remember from each lesson.
I communicate lesson objectives to students by:
- Saying the objective to students at the beginning, middle, and end of class as students echo it back.
- Reading and saying directions to students while explaining how each activity will help them achieve the lesson's objective.
- Randomly asking students to explain the objective to the class as everyone assesses their own understanding with a Thumbs up, Thumbs down, or Thumbs sideways.
- Including lesson objectives on the power points, activity pages, and rubrics/check lists I create.
- Pretending that I am the Principal and randomly asking individuals to explain the objective and how the class is working to master it.
- Chanting and doing motions with the students to help them verbally and non-verbally remember the covered concepts.
